Be Honest about Your Weaknesses Starting up or running a business requires several
skills, however it is important to accept we are not expert at all things.
Generally the reason
why people are in business is because they are good at something but,
inevitably there will be areas of limitation. As owners or managers of businesses you must be
honest about your weaknesses and then begin to identify what you do well and
what you do badly. Focussing in on
disciplines such as financial, marketing, operational and general management
will then determine what help you may need. You have to be honest with
yourself, but also realistic. Allowing someone external to evaluate your
strengths and weaknesses can be extremely valuable. Areas for concern can then
be identified and worked on to give the necessary balance to allow the
business to move forward, you concentrate on what you are good at; external or
even internal resources can help with the rest. |
It is vital businesses, especially the SME sector gain access to key areas of assistance to help them in their development process.

Manufacturing Fails to Recover The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has
reported that 45 percent of September follows the downward trend of August
and therefore raises doubts as to whether recovery will take place. Over the
last year, productivity, new orders and profits have all suffered large falls.
Optimism by most firms remained low for the rest of the year. Businesses will have to cut prices to generate
cash flow as stock levels remain at their highest in five months. The CBI are attempting to put pressure on
government for burdening manufacturers with too much regulation and making
them compete with "one hand tied behind their back."

it easier for small businesses to win central and local government contracts.
Regulations will be cut, including paperwork and other obstacles encountered
when competing for publicly funded contracts. There will be better advertising and various
initiatives to encourage small businesses to bid for government contracts.
Trials will take place in Government contracts are worth a massive £109 billion a year. |
